A former West Australian police officer has appeared in court accused of drugging and raping a number of women he met through online dating sites. The year-old Kelmscott man was arrested at his current workplace and charged with more than offences against eight women on Wednesday, ranging from stupefying in order to commit indictable offence and aggravated indecent and common assault, to aggravated sexual coercion and aggravated assault causing bodily harm.

The charges also include 32 counts of aggravated sexual penetration without consent and 34 counts of sexual penetration without consent. The man, who cannot be named for legal reasons, fronted court on Thursday in a high-vis shirt and spoke only to acknowledge each charge before being remanded in custody to appear at a later date. It is alleged the man was a serving police officer when some of the offences were committed.

He resigned from the police force in May Police allege he met and attacked the women from to present, and detectives believe there may be more victims who have not come forward. Acting Inspector Simone Van Der Sluys said the man’s alleged offending was “abhorrent” and had been “distressing” for herself and her colleagues.

Inspector Van Der Sluys said police executed search warrants at the man’s home and current workplace, uncovering videos of the alleged offending which in some instances included drugging and sexually assaulting women. She said some victims in the videos had not yet been identified or spoken to by police and the investigation was still ongoing. It’s alleged the man used his position as a senior constable to intimidate his victims, and police believe this may have prevented some from reporting the abuse or coming forward.

Inspector Van Der Sluys urged anyone who had information, or if they had been on dates with the man, had any sexual relationship with him, or had contacted him via dating apps, to contact police. Inspector Van Der Sluys reassured women that if they contacted Crime Stoppers the information would come through to a group of empathetic detectives at the Sex Assault Squad who deal with serious sexual offending every day. Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on or make a report online at www.

Relationship fraud is also known as romance fraud where a friendship is initiated online and develops to the point where one of the parties believes they are in a serious personal relationship with their new friend. With relationship fraud, the other party is a fraudster who is making a career out of developing relationships with others online and defrauding them of their money.

People meet on many sites on the internet ranging from dating sites through to social media sites such as Facebook. The reasons people uses the internet to meet others are many, and include seeking a partner, a friend to chat with or even a new friend to meet for coffee. Profiles on social media and dating sites include a large amount of personal information about the lives of individuals, their likes and dislikes, employment, interests, clubs, sports and personal background.

The fraudster will carefully review all this material prior to making the initial approach. They will then develop a strategy which is specifically designed to attract the interest of their target.

Scammers often approach their victims on legitimate dating websites before attempting to move the ‘relationship’ away from the safeguards that.

The date was going badly. On his Tinder profile, Dylan had portrayed himself as a journalist, a law student, a philosophy aficionado, someone with a deep intellect. This was their third meetup, they’d been joined by a weird group of men, and Dylan had just got into a fight with some guys on the street. Lauren just wanted to get out of there, but first, she went to the toilet, down a long corridor at the back end of the bar.

He actually reached in and tore my underpants off, like it was excruciating. When Lauren had composed herself enough to return to their table where her handbag was still sitting, Dylan hovered her underwear under his friend’s nose. Lauren Wheeler didn’t know it yet, but she wasn’t the first Tinder date Dylan had assaulted.

She was his third victim in less than a year and she wouldn’t be the last. He would continue to use the dating app to lure victims.
